Simon S2 Turbo

 

Simon has owned the 1988 Escort RS Turbo S2 since April '97'. The car has now covered over 140,000 miles. The colour is metallic mercury grey with de-locked doors, de-badged bonnet and chrome bumper inserts, clear indicators and tinted rear lights other than that standard '88' spec outside. 

 

 

 

Interior

Inside it has white dials, Mocal boost gauge, water temp oil pressure, water temp, volts, air charge temp gauge, some strange switches that do stuff, sparco pedals, and '90' spec Recaro’s, with six point harnesses, Sparco wheel and rear cage.

Suspension 

 poly bushes all round, rear strut brace welded and cross braced, a PJ motorsport front strut brace, adjustable rose jointed track control arms, all round fully adjustable coil over shocks And a few more rose joints and adjustable bits! 

Brakes

 Cossie 2wd rear calipers and discs, fronts are Willwood 4 pots and 285mm discs with ABS in the bin all brake lines stainless over-braid run through car with brake bias valve. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Engine

 Completely standard well nearly standard…
Apart from slightly ported head with piper 285 T2 cam C57c spark plugs 
Standard Ford head gasket (the best), 
K&N 57i filter, 
Bailey evo dump valve 
Modded turbo (works well to over 25 psi anyway), 
Bailey oil separator with K&N vent, 
Swirl pot, 
BIG Pro-alloy intercooler, 
Water injection, 
Fully lightened and balanced bottom end with Vandervall bearings, 
Mahle pistons, 
ARP bolts, 
High flow oil pump, 
Apexi  AVCR boost electronics controller with a boost limiter switch on gear stick
-31 actuator 
Collins chip and fuel ECU modified for higher revs. 
Scorpion exhausts to let the flames out. 
215BHP @ 15 Psi (runs 9 Psi to a safe 21 but will take 25 or so for short bursts)
